Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I support about 45 of the most amazing kids in the world in our center-based Autism program. These students light up any classroom they go in and are so eager to learn. I once had a professor in college say to us, "If you find a job you're passionate about, you'll never work a day in your life." That quote holds especially true with the population of students I work with. They really make "work" a great experience each and every day. I truly believe that with the correct support and materials, we can provide a positive learning environment for our students. I am looking to provide my students with Autism the tools they need and deserve to be successful members of society both in and out of the classroom.
It is our job to make sure we are providing every possible support to ensure academic success for All Students, including providing the necessary tools to address the specific needs of our center-based Autism program.
My Project
With the school year in full swing and back in person, we are in need of some basic office supplies for our classroom. The resources would be classroom supplies for all of our students to enjoy and share together.
Our centerbased Autism students would greatly benefit from having a fresh set of markers, some pens, construction paper, and other crafting supplies.
My students look forward to the hands on crafts and activities as they add more excitement to their learning experience. It also provides a much needed sensory break during the day. Some of our upcoming activities in need of supplies include making snowflakes (as we learn the water cycle) and ornaments for them to take home to their families over winter break.
