Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students struggle daily with academics and communication, and yet, school is the highlight of their day.
My students are engaged in learning all academic subjects as well as learning life and social skills.
They are all highly capable of learning, but require individualized curriculum that is highly visual and hands-on! Since my students all come from low income families, funding for an iPad is hard to find!
My Project
I am asking for an iPad for my classroom. This may seem like an unusual request, however sometimes the best teaching tools are found in unpredictable places! Technology has been extremely successful in developing my students' current social and academic skills. A huge variety of academic applications have been created for iPad and many are designed specifically for students with Autism! With an iPad, my students will have the opportunity to engage in creating patterns during math time, practicing phonic skills or have stories read to them during reading, or participate in simulated experiments during science.
The portability of an iPad will allow us to utilize these programs and incorporate technology into all curricular areas. The size of an iPad is also ideal as it can be used in small groups and reach multiple students at one time!
My students are wonderful to work with and they amaze me everyday with how quick they learn!
