I teach special education at a Title I school in a Primary Autism classroom in Nevada. My students range from kindergarten through second grade. Just as the autism spectrum is varied, so are my students' abilities. Some students have fine motor control issues while others are technology gurus. My school district is a diverse school district trying to meet the needs of those diverse learners.
We rock the spectrum!
Now please help us rock with awesome new resources as well!
My Project
I am wanting to hold a school wide event where students decorate a puzzle piece however they want. These puzzle pieces will represent themselves and however they would like to express themselves. We will then take all of the pieces and build the puzzles to show how we are all connected.
This will be a fun and interactive way to share information about Autism for Autism Awareness in April.
My students will love this creative activity as well as all of the other grades in my school. I am excited to do this and have the puzzles displayed year round at my school.
