Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We all know that good literature and interesting books make students want to read. The more variety in the classroom the more interest students show in reading.
My students come from low economic backgrounds.
Many do not have books of their own at home. Most of my students have parents who want the best from them but can't always afford to provide it. Students in our school struggle with standard based tests, especially reading tests.
My Project
I am asking for novels and history based books to build our library. I also am planning on doing author studies for a few of the authors. I will be using the History books to teach theme units throughout the year. I am asking for a kindle fire to download and use the classic children's novels that many of my students have never been exposed to. We will also use the kindle to record content for students in the classroom.
Having quality literature is a must in a fifth grade classroom.
My students will build their reading skills as well as learn about our country's history with the novels and books I have asked for. The kindle will bring the books to life and give them a chance to experience the newest technology for reading. Thanks for considering our project.
