This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach math and science to 63 amazing young sixth grade scholars in the San Francisco Bay Area, many who come from multilingual backgrounds and receive subsidized meals at school.

When my students have access to the right tools, their creativity and brilliance shine brightly.

They take pride in learning, creating, and teaching each other. They catch on quickly and are very proud of the work they create. Having more access to the right technology will provide them with the chance to shine even brighter.

My Project

Twice in the last two months, I've been able to work in classrooms with whiteboard tables. I've seen how my students (and mine) creativity has come alive during a STEAM lesson, as they were able to immediately brainstorm and sketch their ideas right on the table surface. I can envision how we can utilize the surface in all subjects. In math, it would reduce the amount of paper that we use. It would allow students, in a gallery walk, to share and explain their thinking. We could use the table surface to brainstorm literary elements in English Language Arts and to create food chains in Science.
