Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the Leaders and Learners of the 21st Century and I have the privelege of teaching them science and engineering. These students come from neighborhoods and homes that cannot offer a whole lot and the school is the only place in their lives where they can count on people in their lives. The children I see on a daily basis are hungry for opportunities to make a difference in the school and their community. My school and staff facilitate their abilities to make the chahges they wish to see in the world.
In my classroom, students are given the opportunity to talk about the world, dream about what changes they would like to see, and create the solutions to enact those changes.
Our school's mission to build leaders and learners is being fulfilled by a caring staff who live to serve the needs of our students. At our school, we empower students to be the change they want to see in the world around them. Whether they come from middle income or no income families, we embrace them and encourage them to dream!
My Project
These Merge VR headsets will allow the students to use the technology already in their hands in new ways that extend the classroom into the world beyond the school walls. Cutting edge of educational technology blends the real world with virtual reality to create Mixed Reality. Imagine bringing artifacts and models from museums such as the Louvre and MET to the students thousands of miles away and being able to interact with them in ways never before seen. The rich experiences of learning opportunities only found in private and charter schools are made available to public school students.
With these headsets and the Merge cubes, already on site, students can imagine, create, and manipulate the world that they envision.
Merge VR headsets allow the student to analyze and optimize models that they create, using Microsoft 3D paint or coding programs. Students can take their worlds created in Minecraft EDU and bring them into a mixed reality world.
