Audio/Visual Equipment Needed for Military Children
My students need audio/visual technology equipment to learn technology skills through creative hands-on STEM activities. They need a camera, camcorder and microphone.
Many students wonder every school day "When am I ever going to use this information in my life?" but they never have to ask themselves that in business technology courses! Though my students are surrounded by technology (cell phones, tablets and game stations) and could setup my new DVD player in a snap, they don’t have the technology skills needed for higher education and future careers. Business Technology classes address that problem and prepare our children for higher education and careers.
My school is located on a US Air Force Base and most of our students are from military families, many of whom have parents deployed overseas.
In addition to dealing with parental deployment, military children endure the strain of restarting relationships with friends and teachers and keeping up with work in each new school. Our teachers are proud to serve the children of those who serve our country.
My Project
My audio/visual and business technology students are learning how to use technology both academically and professionally.
My students need audio/visual equipment for graphic-design, digital photography, and video production projects, as well as to enhance their understanding of how this new technology works.
It is not enough to show students videos or tell them about technology tools and applications. For them to obtain the required skills, they need hands-on experience with the professional tools and applications used in business. Through my Introduction to Arts, Audio/Visual Technology and Communication course, students are responsible for creating the middle school monthly newsletter and the K-8 yearbook. We need a new digital camera and rechargeable batteries to allow the students to learn digital photography and to take pictures for the newsletter and yearbook throughout the school and at school events. Additionally, they are learning about video production and editing and need a video camera and microphone to record videos that they can then edit for production.
Unfortunately, many of these tools and applications aren't available in public schools. Please help me so that I can give my students access to these tools needed for graphic-design, digital photography, and video production.
