My Students

"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!" My students aspire to be better readers - audio books are a great way for them to listen to fluent reading at home.

The sixty English Language Learners in our public school comprise approximately twenty percent of our school's population.

Our building is fifty-three percent low income, and our ELL students make up about three quarters of that group. Many of our students come from homes in which they are the first to have formal schooling.

My Project

The eight audio books I am asking for will allow my students to listen to fluent readers in both English and Spanish. With the addition of these books to our listening library, students will be able to listen to fluent reader models in both languages, empowering both students and parents to become better readers.

It is vital for students to maintain their first language and the audio books will empower my students and their parents to develop reading skills in both languages.

A donation to this project is an investment in the future.
