This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My seventh graders from Chelsea are bright, inquisitive, and caring. As the special education teacher, I aim to provide my neediest students with the best accommodations and supports to support their learning. Many of my students with disabilities benefit from fidgets, flexible seating options, and stress relief objects. Providing a variety of these supports can make class a comfortable and accessible experience for students who do not always succeed with traditional classroom instruction. I want to make my classroom open and successful for all students who walk through the door.

My Project

Students with disabilities often need accommodations to access the general education curriculum. Students with disabilities benefit from sensory objects that their typical peers may not need. Stress toys, fidgets, flexible seating, and timers are all resources that I have found great success with in the past when supporting students with special needs. As I enter a new grade in my sixth year of teaching, I need to replenish my supplies to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Providing these supplies can be the difference between a student engaging in the curriculum during class time, and them being asked to leave the room. Thanks for supporting my students' needs!
