My students are wonderful kids who have a true passion for music. They always go above and beyond to be the best possible musicians; the emotional support from their parents keeps them working hard to be better and better. My students are some of the first generation of "band kids" at this school. The helped start the music program here.
As we have continued to grow, national and state budget cuts have kept us from providing all the equipment our students need.
Our school is located in rural South Carolina, and our community is extremely supportive.
My students are taking their first steps outside of their comfort zone to produce a spring musical, A Night on Broadway. The students are working hard and sound great, but we need audio equipment so that our audiences can hear the performances. Through grants, we have been able to purchase a basic audio system and our district has provided two laptops to help us, however, we do not have some of the microphones, cables, and other infrastructure to make the student's dreams happen.
Not only will be able to use the items in our musical productions, but we can use them in class for audio recording and production.
Included in this grant is also a request for reeds (for the woodwind student to play in in the pit orchestra).
