Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-five students this year, fifteen boys and ten girls. They are full of energy and are very excited to express themselves each and everyday. They are all very different from one another and always have lots to share. We are trying to promote reading in a positive way. Reading, doing book reports and being able to participate in an auction was a huge success last year. This gives the students a positive reason to read and be able to tell what the story is about.
My Project
These items will be auction items. Students will read a book and have to fill out a book report form to receive "ball" money. Each paper ball they earn is like money to purchase items on "auction" day. The more books they read, the more book reports they get to turn in to earn the "ball" money. Depending on how long the book is, determines how many "balls" the student receives. Reading will be done at home. For the first auction, we will do a few book reports in class, but for the second auction, it will all be done at home.
