My students need a classroom carpet to enable them to be "ready to learn, responsible, and respectful", the 3R's highlighted in our PBIS schoolwide plan.

My Students

My students are first graders in a low economic suburban neighborhood. We have been named a 2015-16 Wisconsin School of Recognition. This is the 8th time since the 2006-07 school year that we have earned this award. In order to qualify schools must be in the top 25 percent of high poverty schools in the state, and must have above-average student achievement in reading and mathematics. Our school is one of only 169 schools state-wide to be awarded this recognition.

My Project

This carpet will enhance student learning because the children will be more focused on instruction and allow me to carry out classroom routines more efficiently. I will see students more respectful to others and focused on their learning. Students will benefit by being more attentive during instruction and there will be less distractions because they will know their personal boundaries.

Having the carpet will allow me to organize the students on the colored squares in different groupings to maximize learning.

This carpet will help to create a happy, orderly, and calm atmosphere in my classroom during whole and small group lessons.
