This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our classroom is a special education autism room with students ranging from kindergarten through 2nd grade in the heart of St.Louis City. We measure success through academics, as well as behavioral, social, emotional and functional skills. Despite their learning barriers, each student comes into the room everyday with a positive attitude and loving demeanor. To best support our students' growth, it is imperative to offer them meaningful, hands-on activities, along with interactive learning opportunities. These students have made tremendous strides since the beginning of the school year and truly understand the belief we have in them.
My Project
In our classroom, every student is on a different level in regards to their academic, behavioral, social, and functional skills. To meet each student at their individual levels, I need to offer my students a wide variety of learning tools. These different tools will be able to help my students learn and grow as students, and as people.
The different kinds of counting games and cards will help students learn their numbers at their own rate.
The variety of the counting games and cards will insure that learning numbers can be fun and different. Bingo games can help students learn numbers, letters, and matching. Bingo can also teach social and functional skills such as, working in groups, taking turns, and following directions.
