My Project

Do you remember the first time you found a book that you just could not put down? It held your attention until the very last page, and when you were finished you couldn't wait to find another book just like it? This is the experience I would like to provide for the at-risk readers in my classroom.

I teach in a district where more than half of the students receive free and reduced-rate lunch.

My students are highly motivated to learn but many come from homes where books are not readily available. As a result, some of my students are not on level with their reading. The lower-level books that I have in my classroom library are not appealing to my at-risk students.

My students need books that will draw them in and help them to see the world in new and engaging ways. The Untouchables and Runaway Twin are two titles that students love. Both of these titles are written specifically for reluctant readers and I know my students will love these books. These books have contemporary themes and exciting stories. I want to open the world of reading to my at-risk readers. Please help me provide these quality titles for my students.
