My students will be five-year-old Kindergarten children. I am teaching students from three different schools in an online class of 45 students. Each community is a little different.
Some of my students come from socioeconomically challenged families.
They deserve an education that will prepare them for the demands of our 21st century. I want to challenge my students to build strong literacy and math skills.
My Project
My kindergartners will only be able to interact with us online. However, online learning does very little to develop their ability to cut, paste, draw, manipulate, count, sort, group, and write. I aim to ensure that our students' fine and gross motor skills are developed, too, while they are learning online. Each take-home pack will have manipulatives for math and reading. A lot of the materials will be teacher created and will use the non-consumable items purchased with this grant.
My goal is to provide materials and manipulatives that enhance their online learning and prevent the parent from having to spend more time finding or making materials.
There is no way to avoid having to have a parent nearby while their kindergartners are online learning. However, I can attempt to provide them with the same tools in their take-home bags that they would be using at school.
