Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a city that is thriving, but they don't always feel that. What they know is that they live in a neighborhood that is changing due to development and gentrification. They live in a place that continues to push their friends and family out because of rising rent and home prices.
My students live in a city of opportunity but are denied many of those opportunities every day.
My job is to make sure that they have the same opportunities in my classroom that students in West Austin have. I work hard to teach them not only biology but the importance of self-advocacy and drive. This is helped by having resources that make learning more engaging. Thanks for your help!
My Project
I want to purchase digital copies of books for my AP Environmental Science class and Anatomy and Physiology class. With at-home learning the new normal, I want to allow my kids to have some control over their learning, something that a book study will allow. I have found interesting titles for each course and want to purchase digital copies through our school's integrated literature platform (MackinVia), as there is not currently a way to deliver hard copies to each individual student. These digital copies will be available to students for the remainder of the year and then can be used again by students in the courses next year.
