Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

After an abrupt change to our daily routine, my students and I are adapting to our new way of teaching and learning. To say it's been easy would be a lie, but each week is getting better and better!

My students are eager to learn!

Some are able to join me in Google Meets, but most do not have devices. This requires me to create the same plan (because I desire all students to get the same material) both digitally and paper/pencil packets.

The students want to remain engaged and connected. They search for each other at food distribution sites and will often ask about another classmate that they haven't seen in a while. We truly miss one another!

My Project

Most of my students do not have basic school supplies at home.

These supplies will help students stay engaged in their learning.

Students will be able to use an actual ruler to engage in a lesson plan that requires them to measure different objects around their home. Students will then have to use their knowledge of measurement to determine something else outside of their home that would measure to about the same length. Another activity students will complete is to cut out objects and glue them under the correct measurement unit they would use to measure the item. For example, a picture of a school bus, students would glue the picture under inches. This is a great activity for me to see how much they understand about measurement.
