Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Science is everywhere in today’s world. It is part of our daily lives, from cooking and gardening, to recycling and comprehending the daily weather report, to reading a map and using a computer. Therefore, it is important for students to have the best science experience as possible.

My students are eager to learn new things in my classroom.

They love coming to school to be informed about new and exciting things. The mission of our school is to equitably educate all students, to inspire all students to believe that learning is a lifelong process, and to foster good citizenship by providing each student with opportunities to develop skills for: (1) obtaining and utilizing information; (2) coping with the dynamics of society; (3) thinking, reasoning and problem solving; (4) developing creativity; and (5) positive human relationships in an environment conducive to learning. With these materials, we will be able to make things happen to meet the Arkansas State Standards.

My Project

The students will be able to do lots of hands-on activities to enhance their learning process in science. The "symbiosis kit" will allow students to see that symbiosis is a very important part of nature. By observing symbiosis in action, the students can see the relationship of the different organisms. The students will be able to use the "solar car" and the "wind power kit" to conduct investigations and classify the different types energy. The "All About Me" slide set will enable the students to see what is causing their bodies to function. They will be able to see the different types of cells that keeps things living. The different "bingo games" will allow me to reinforce the concepts learned in that particular lesson. The students will really enjoy using these different hands-on materials in the science class. This will create a life-long memory for them, which is the primary goal of teaching and learning.

This project is important because I feel as though the students will greatly benefit from this academically and personally.

The students will understand that learning is fun and important to becoming a successful individual in society today. Science is definitely important for students to learn because it will help them understand their surroundings and why certain things happen in the world. My students and I will greatly appreciate and benefit from the hands-on materials. Thanks!!
