Astounding Artists Achieve Awareness

My students need a Kindle Fire to enrich their appreciation of the visual arts and describe objects of art from different parts of the world.

My Students

Walt Disney is a great inspiration for artistic creativity. My students are quite familiar with Disney and the classic animation his studio designs. I would like to capture that excitement in teaching about creative expression and design that supports the VAPA standards.

My third grade students are energetic, curious, and excited about learning.

Through the use of engaging technology they will foster a love of art and be able to describe how artists use tints and shades in paintings. Although my third graders are enthusiastic about art, they still have much to learn.

My Project

By having a Kindle Fire in the classroom, my students will be able to perceive and respond to works of art, objects in nature, and the environment using appropriate language. They will also use the vocabulary of the visual arts to express their observations. Through the Disney CREATE Grant, my students will be able to use technology to compare and contrast works of art. They will be able to select an artist's work of art and explain its successful composition and communicative qualities. Students will be given a pre/post test on vocabulary, artistic perception, and the principles of design. Student learning will be enriched as they explore several works of art. Students will gain a unique and lasting experience.

Students adore art and love Mickey Mouse.

It is valuable to be able to see how artists have affected people's lives, from architects to designers. My project will help to enrich student learning and help them realize connections and relationships they learn in the visual arts areas.
