Mrs. Langdon from Louisville KY is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need a one-year subscription to ESGI, which is a one-on-one assessment tool I can use with my students to track their progress, identify areas for improvement, and communicate with parents.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The majority of the students I teach come from low-income, working class families and one-third of my students are English Language Learners. Some of my ELL students are direct immigrants from another country while others come from homes where English is not the first language or even spoken at all.
I am fortunate enough to teach students who come from a range of backgrounds and vary across academic levels.
While this may present a challenge at times, I believe that all of my students should have access to the best educational resources regardless of their individual circumstances so I will continue to do whatever I can in order to help my students reach their individual and grade level goals.
Assessing is one of the most important aspects of teaching, because it shows us [teachers] exactly what our students know and have yet to learn. We then use the data received from assessments to help our students make progress throughout the year. The problem that most teachers face with assessments, myself included, is finding the time to regularly administer and analyze them!
Therefore, using ESGI will allow me to regularly assess my students in both literacy and math skills without wasting as much instructional time!
Not only will ESGI help me administer multiple assessments at once, but it will also automatically score and analyze each student's data.
The assessment data I receive through ESGI will help me to develop instruction specific to my students' individual needs in order to help them meet their individual and grade level goals. It will also make it easier for me to communicate students' learning goals to parents by providing them with the assessment results so they can help support their child at home.
