My kind and creative students truly enjoy learning about themselves, their classmates and the great big world around them. In our class learning is hands-on, differences are celebrated, and self-expression is encouraged.
Each and every day these young scholars explore, discover, and develop their own interests, strengths, and passions, and build important foundations in learning that they will carry with them forever.
We are a K4 class in an urban K4-8th grade school.
My students come from low-income families and live in high-crime neighborhoods in a big city. They receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Their families struggle to afford the most basic necessities.
My awesome little artists love creating, experimenting, and expressing themselves through art which promotes the development of a wide range of skills that they will use throughout their school years and for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, our school does not have the financial means that are necessary to purchase art supplies.
By donating to our project you will be providing our class with endless creative opportunities!
The markers, glitter pens, oil pastels, and chalk will allow students to draw, color and create amazing pieces of artwork. The stamp pads and alphabet stamps, as well as the stencils and colored pencils we have asked for, will give them an inviting opportunity to practice letter recognition and improve their small motor skills.
Creative art experiences utilizing a variety of paints and painting tools will allow students to explore and express their feelings and provide them with a safe outlet for their emotions. When little people struggle with big feelings creative art can help them express themselves in a way that words may not be able to.
My students will also be using the Paper Popz and mosaic fabric squares to create mixed media collages that will be displayed around our school. They cannot wait to create and display their unique masterpieces!
These supplies will allow me to provide my students with exciting art experiences that most of the children in my class have never had the opportunity to experience before. They can't wait to get started!
