Aspiring Graphic Designers Need Drawing Tablets for Our Class!
Help me give my students the opportunity to use drawing tablets in our classroom in order to enhance their artistic skills and career prospects for the future!
I am so fortunate to teach in such a vibrant community. I work in a high school where there are four art teachers who are very dedicated and work very long hours. Our art students take their work very seriously and compete in many competitions locally and nationally. Though our school's teachers and students are extremely driven, it is difficult to get enough funding to sustain our growing art program.
My students amaze me every day and are so inspiring!
Many of our art students stay after school every day in order to achieve their dreams of creating well-rounded art portfolios so that they can get into top art schools around the country. We work very hard for each other and keep one another motivated.
My Project
Our school's Graphic Design classes are growing in popularity, but we do not have the funding to purchase new technology for our program. Many of my students aspire to go into the field of graphic design after high school because of our school's classes.
Our class was fortunate enough to get fully funded through a prior DonorsChoose project and purchased 10 drawing tablets.
The students have loved using the tablets, and they are always in high demand in our classroom. In a class of 32 students, there are a lot of students who do not get the opportunity to use the tablets.
My goal is to eventually have a class set of 32 tablets so that each person in the class can use their own tablet on the same project. This will allow me to create new lessons based on learning and using the tablets. In the industry, graphic designers use tablets to do their work, and this is why I think that it is essential for students to have access to tablets in my classes.
My Graphic Design students are serious art students who want to create their best work! As a class and individually, students create posters, logos, product designs and other practical art for our school and community.
Many of my students find projects online and participate in design contests internationally. Our school has won many Scholastic Art Awards in digital art and other mediums, and many of our students continue onto art school after high school. Please help us give students the technology to reach their potential in the field of graphic design and beyond!
