This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in the urban city of Cleveland Ohio and many of my scholars are faced with challenges that often hinder them from attaining the education that they deserve. They are academically lower than average students with a thirst and hunger to learn, grow and develop.

Every scholar in my classroom comes to school engaged in the learning process, even though the environmental challenges they face.

Our classroom is a project-based learning environment with a variety of learning strategies, including small group instruction, individualized attention, and flexible seating. We teach to the individual learner and every scholar receives the cookie cutter approach. I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of scholars that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

Writing is a major part of my students' lives! It's important to be able to express yourself in a variety of ways, personally and professionally. As an ELA teacher, it is my passion and purpose to provide my scholars with the tools needed to guide them through the process of writing and prepare them for their future. Our school has a limited supply of paper and only allows one box of paper per quarter. This is not enough paper to properly and effectively provide instruction. During instruction, its my job to individualize learning and treat every learner different and meet them where they are in life.
