Kids love technology. Our ASB (Associated Student Body) wants to use an iPad to make our dances and student body activities more spectacular. They have many great, creative ideas that they would like to implement, but they need portable technology to do it.
We have been fortunate to have access to a lot of great technology at our school due to an amazing community that donates to our annual fundraiser, but for the past five years our fundraiser has taken a major hit due to the economy and changes in fundraising laws for public schools.
We do not receive the Title 1 money that is reserved for very low income schools, but we are still considered to be a moderate poverty school. Our students come from all over the district since we are a preferred school of choice. Some of these students have little or no access to technology. We are trying to provide a 21st century educational experience without the funds to update our technology.
My Project
Our ASB would like an iPad to create the end of the year movie which shows all of the awesome activities the students do during the year. They also want to develop special effects, light shows and other creative visuals for dances, assemblies, and lunchtime activities. This will allow the whole school to see how amazing today's technology is and what it is capable of creating. This will allow the ASB student staff to film student activities, learn to edit their film and project it onto a large screen for everyone to see and enjoy. We do so many fun things at our school and this will allow more people to be involved. A Disney Create grant can help our students create shows with up to date technology and can inspire our student body of 1300 students to imagine a new and exciting future!
This project will have a major impact on our school.
It involves everyone on our campus and creates a sense of community. Junior High is more than just academics, it is a time to learn how to be a part of a group and participate as a contributing member of society. ASB provides an opportunity for students to take a leadership role in getting a large group of people involved in a common experience. Your donation can change the atmosphere on our entire campus.
