The students in my class are a diverse set of learners. Many students in my classroom are English Language Learners. I also have students from low income backgrounds who have minimal access to books and technology at home.
First graders love to learn, laugh and have some fun!
Being able to work with students has been my lifelong dream, and I want to create the best classroom environment for them. This means creating a classroom with a variety of books, and giving them all of the opportunities that I can.
My Project
Some of these materials are things that will help me to be productive and keep our classroom functional. The folders are to organize some of the books I used for our guided reading groups. Magnets and whiteboard baskets will keep needed materials nearby.
Creating a listening center and literacy games will help instill a love of letters and books for my students.
Students love to play games and don't even know that they are learning. Banagrams is a fun literacy game! My 1st graders love listening to audio books. With our tablets, I will be able to use headphone splitters to have students listen to a story together.
Magna-tiles are a great way for students to explore shapes, and use their imagination to create!
