The only globe I could find listed Russia as the USSR - historical but not up-to-date and accurate. Since we are a Social Studies and Communication Arts 4th-Grade classroom, I thought it would be advantageous for the students to have some really great resources.
My students are the greatest bunch of kids.
I have 24 students in my homeroom and switch later in the day to teach another 25 from our second 4th grade classroom. We are a small Title 1 school. We are presently doing quite a few classbuilders and teambuilders and new friendships are being formed. We work in cooperative learning groups and I am pleased to say they help one another very well.
My Project
Two young ladies were looking at the globe to show each other the countries from which they had each come. I joined these students' conversation. It was at this time, however, that I noticed our globe was not in great shape and it was outdated.
The globe I am requesting is colorful, has a full meridian, raised shaded areas to designate elevation, and shading to show ocean currents. The geography book contains 36 lessons with over 100 geographical terms. Activities in this book will focus on reading maps, map elements, longitude and latitude, the hemispheres, and so much more.
My kids are awesome, and they are eager to learn.
Living in a small town all one's life can sometimes give the impression that all that matters is this small world we have in our town. After the destruction that occurred in our town, our kids saw national media and didn't know what to think of all the world's curiosity. This project will assist them in realizing how big the world is and how caring people can be from all ends of the Earth. They will know and understand our big world.
