My Students

Our students are proud members of our very small pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school, located east of Oklahoma City. Our school is unique due to its small size, combined grades, and wonderful students.

We are a Provision 2 school, and many of our students come from low-income families.

Last year was the first time in our school's history that our students were able to take part in a music program. Our program is now in its second year, and students are really enjoying the opportunity to learn about, listen to, create, and perform music. We are hoping students will learn musical skills, work as a team, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

My Project

Having access to individual bell kits will allow my students to further and deepen their musical study.

Bell kits would be utilized in a variety of ways in our classroom.

Through the use of bell kits, my students would be able to continue to explore melody, something that we begun in the previous school year. Students would have the opportunity to perform melodies, instead of simply singing them. These skills are essential for later success in band programs and could be used lifelong.

Bell kits would also enable my students to explore, play, and create harmonies to accompany songs, chants, and poems performed in class. Our bell kits will also be used for a variety of composition and improvisation projects in our room, allowing our student musicians the opportunity to create their own music, giving them a unique opportunity for self-expression!
