Our kindergarten through 12th grade school community is made up of low-income students who have made our school their second home. My students are very excited to explore the world of art, to challenge their own creative output and to create new and interesting things.
Linking ceramics to literature is a wonderful way to transform both subject areas and make stories come to life.
The ability to supply to my students with all the necessary materials is vital for their continued creativity.
My Project
My middle school students love learning about innovative and influential artists. They also really love to read. I have a created a lesson combining art and literature.
Each student will research information about a artist who has impacted the art world and changed the way the world views art.
Once the research has been gathered, student will select one piece of art and use it as the inspiration for a 3 dimensional relief sculpture. The donation of glaze will help the sculpture come to life.
Glaze can be a very expensive material and this donation will help my students projects come to life and show them the importance of art.
