This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

W Elementary School has very dedicated and hard-working students! They are always eager to learn and are up to any challenge. We are very fortunate to be able to make music every day.

This hard work of music-making makes it so that the students inspire each other to go above and beyond what we do in the classrooms!

We currently have 105 students that created their own music groups and rehearse after and before school! Talk about self motivated students!

My Project

Keyboards/pianos are used in my classroom from kindergarten all the way through 5th grade. Younger students learn piano basics while advanced students play the keyboards in the modern band setting, including our robust extra-curricular program.

I would like to honor my father's memory by fostering a love of music in my students at an early age.

He gave me my first instrument when I was eight years old, an accordion, which sparked my love of music. I love seeing students build their confidence, dexterity, and music-making abilities using the keyboard lab.

The updated keyboards will give twice as many students this opportunity.
