This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In the words of Pablo Picasso, "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary." This quote motivates me to provide my students with ways to creatively and harmlessly cleanse their souls through art. I want to give my students an avenue to channel energy and emotions they are holding within.

I teach a phenomenal group of first grade students that have been identified as being at-risk learners.

Not only are my students facing academic challenges, but they are also dealing with emotional concerns as well. Consequently, they bring their burdens to class and it prevents them from being able to concentrate and ultimately acquire new knowledge. Therefore, I want to afford them ways to deal with humane issues in a hands-on way. I truly believe that expressing oneself through art, helps to cleanse the heart, mind, and soul.

My Project

My students will use the Griffin Technology - Crayola DigiTools Digital Effects Deluxe Kit and iPad mini to electronically create artistic expression. This is truly a form a therapy that will enable my students to safely clear their minds and maximize learning. Fueling my students creativity with Crayola DigiTools, will essentially empower them. We will use the digital crayons, airbrush, and stamper to STAMP out their emotions.
