Remember creating your first work of art in school that you were truly proud of, and telling the teacher you were done?
My students are curious, enthusiastic and fun.
They explore their surroundings in a way that I never thought possible, always eager to understand why something is "the way that it is", or "why things are done a certain way." They always find the solution to a problem. My students are eager to succeed.
My Project
I am requesting a Silhouette Cameo, which is an electric die-cut machine and extra blade. The machine connects to a computer to cut out virtually any shape you can think of or create. I can't even imagine all that my students would be able to do with this machine in my classroom. From hands on manipulative's to displays in the classroom, the possibilities with the Cameo are limitless. With the Cameo, students will really be able to dig into what we're studying and create relevant pieces of art work. For example, during our unit on Transformations, students will be able to design and cut out shapes for key concepts. This helps make abstract math concepts more tangible for students through differentiation. The Cameo would also be used to create bulletin boards around the school to help promote a culture of learning and success.
Infusing art into the curriculum is so important my students.
When they are given the opportunity to showcase their learning through creative means, the end result is always outstanding. By providing my classroom with a Silhouette Cameo, students will be able to use their creative talents to make math meaningful.
