My preschool students are the sweetest, despite the disadvantages they face. Preschool students in my district must qualify based on parental education/income and ability. The students in my school receive free breakfast each morning. 95% of my class qualifies for free or reduced lunch. For most of them, this is their first school experience.

My students work hard to thrive at school, but many lack experiences outside of the classroom. My students come from families that work hard to make ends meet.
My Project
This paint and paper will allow my students to create beautiful masterpieces in our art center. Some of my students come to school with no prior art experience. I want to give as many experiences as possible. It has been amazing to see the pride they possess when displaying their finished products.
According to The National Association for the Education of Young Children, art opportunities allow children to express their feelings, discuss and express their ideas, and develop cognitive skills of planning, predicting, and problem solving.
In addition, painting allows students to develop fine motor skills in a new and exciting way. Students can create paintings as they choose while developing social and cognitive skills.
