Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our small all-girls high school focuses on academics, which is great, but we do not have the capacity to offer many of the things that bigger schools can offer. One of the things girls enjoy doing is art projects. We do not have a separate art class, but have ordered supplies like brushes, canvases, and paint before.
The girls enjoy using their creativity to create art on canvas.
It is a relaxing yet thought provoking activity. They enjoy expressing themselves in an artistic matter and enjoy the creative process.
My Project
My students need art supplies such as canvases, paint brushes, acrylic paint, and paint trays. Our small all-girls high school focuses on academics and we do not offer any art programs. The girls have expressed the need and desire to be able to express themselves through art. Whenever art projects are presented, these young ladies are captivated and enthused to participate. We have an advisory class that is 30 minutes long this is a good opportunity for the students to unwind a little bit and do something "non-academic". Studies have shown the benefits of art in academic achievement, social and emotional well-being, and engagement. We are hoping to receive canvases, brushes, and paint for our advisory class.
