This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are working hard at following class routines and finding new things to explore in their classroom environment. They are very tactile and working with their hands keeps them very busy and engaged for a long time. I hear the conversations between the students when they are interested and it increases their social skills.
Currently, my room does not have a lot of hands-on learning material.
The pervious class took what they needed to their room down the hall.
My Project
We don't have an easel in the room or a place to dry paintings. Our class has a few tables and they are mostly used for table materials and small groups work not for creating artwork. I would love my students to be able to paint and experiment with colors. They need a place to put their paper and a invitation of paint to get their juices flowing. I do think painting is a relaxing artwork and they would enjoy making pictures for their family and it would strengthen fine motor muscles in their fingers. Painting is a real joy!
