Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third-grade students are curious boys and girls who attend a school that is unique in that it serves kindergarten through eighth-grade students. This age span at our school makes the transition from 5th grade to middle school so much easier for the students and allows them to keep lasting relationships with classmates and support staff.
My students come to learn and progress in all they do in class.
They practice the 7 Habits of Happy Kids on a daily basis by setting goals, being in charge of themselves, synergizing to get things done, and having time set aside to relax in preparation for the days ahead.
My Project
My students enjoy art lessons just as much as any other child would in school! We can learn so much about children when we allow them to be creative! My students and I do not have easy access to certain art supplies that can make projects come to life. We also do not have a way to store my students art other than on top of a kidney table that needs to be used throughout the day.
Having specific markers, paper specifically for watercolor paints, and a drying rack will help us complete art pieces related to different artists' works, the seasons, holidays, and literature connections!
I love two great art teachers from the websites Deep, Space, Sparkle and Painted Paper Art! These art teachers inspire me with their awesome art lessons that are doable even by teachers who feel like art can sometimes feel impossible in a classroom. They present lessons that fit into my curriculum or the time of year. I have looked up to these teachers for years and they have really helped me make a difference in my classroom by bringing art to my students and making connections across all disciplines.
