This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Keep footprints off our paintings and save our clean clothes. We have been putting wet paintings to dry on any surface we can find, including the carpet. A paint rack would help prevent masterpieces from being ruined and keep our carpet stain-free.
Over 70% of the children at my school receive free or reduced lunch.
75% or more of the families in my classroom speak another language at home. Many of the students have parents working several jobs to make ends meet so art is a last priority at home. Most of parents are not available to help in the classroom because they are so busy with work and/or raising younger siblings.
My Project
Many of my students do not have the luxury of doing art at home. Most of these parents are not able to provide the supplies or the experience of playing with paints. When we do art, some of the children get upset because their parents are not able to wash clothes easily because they do not have washers and dryers at home. The aprons would be helpful in keeping the children's' clothes clean.
Many children, including English Language Learners can better express themselves through art.
Art is not an emphasis in the curriculum but it is one way that children can express their thoughts and feelings freely.
