My students are a mystery! I haven't met them yet, but I have high hopes, expectations and aspirations for them and our classes this year. They are in grades 6, 7, and 8. I'm sure they'll be interested in many types of art once they are introduced. Middle school is the last time many students take art and I want to make it educational, memorable, and enjoyable. You never know which of these kids may be inspired! I hope art gives them a chance to shine.
My Project
Well not really pointless, but it makes it hard when you're learning to draw if you don't have them. I want to give each student a set and allow them to take them home for weekly sketchbook assignments to improve their basic skills so that other projects will improve as well.
I want to teach them the difference between these drawing pencils and every day pencils.
I want to begin with classroom instruction and then continue with sketchbook assignments because the more you practice, the better you get.
If I inspire any artists, I'd love for them to have a basic set of pencils to keep and continue to use instead of having to turn them in at the end of every class.
