Art We Smart!!

My students need art supplies, including scissors, dot art painters, paint brushes, markers and sponge painters.

Hooray! This project is fully funded

I teach 18 energetic kindergarten students at an all kindergarten Title 1 school. About 75% of my students are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students come from high poverty areas within our community with little or no help at home.

Each day in our room I do my best to provide my students with the supplies and materials they need to express themselves and be creative. We visit an art center daily where the students create a project to support the lesson for the day or week.

This is where I am in need of help. It would be very beneficial to my students if we had paintbrushes, paint, markers, scissors, and sponges to enhance their creativity. These materials may sound simple, but most of my students do not have access to them at home. For many, kindergarten is a place where they do things for the very first time. Holding a paintbrush, scissors, and markers are all new skills that take time to learn. With just a few supplies it can make a world of difference in my classroom.

By supporting this project you will make it possible for my students to see and know that learning is fun and that art is a great way to express themselves. Thank you for considering my proposal and for showing an interest in the lives of children.
