Art Through Visuals and It's Always Good to Have Adhesives

My Students

I teach drawing and painting classes to 9-12 graders in a high poverty and low socioeconomic area. For many of my kids, this is their first taste of art class and getting to showcase their creative talents.

In the short amount of time I've worked with my kids, they have shown that they want to know more about the world around them, to express themselves in ways they have never done before.

These are kids that try their best even when many have counted them out. I have enjoyed getting to know them through their creativity on their art projects.

My Project

Being able to access artistic visual and information is always a great thing, but sometimes when we try through digital means we hit a pay wall. It's sad that we live in a time that many art pieces from the world's most famous artists need to be essentially bought.

Many of my students are unable to visit museums outside of "free museum day" so their only access is through the reading material and the internet.

Many of these blurry and pixelated visuals are not sufficient enough to get the real feeling of the actual artwork.

Being able to access these visuals and knowledge from an art publication is the next best thing at this time. Many of our classroom books and magazines are old with misinformation and in a state of disarray.
