My students need crayola paint, hot plate, safety glasses, ceramic, and other art supplies and science products to immerse my students into the world of art while learning about science.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Seeing and exploring art though science experiments is a great way to get students involved in learning. Exposing my students to science only helps them more as they embark on new adventures in their upper elementary years.
My students are very eager to learn about art and science.
I teach second and third grade gifted students. They attend a school that has 85% of the students on free or reduced lunch. Our community was also hit hard by Hurricane Katrina and we are still trying to recover financially.
My Project
Science arts will provide my students with an exciting opportunity to learn basic science concepts through art experiences. My students will be able to explore, manipulate, and discover art and science as an intertwined process rather than a final product. The crayola paint, hot plate, safety glasses, ceramic, and other art spplies and science products becomes an outcome of experimenting and experiencing, rather than the sole reason for any activity. There are many activities that my gifted students will complete during this process; such as learning about water and air, light and sight, motion and energy, reaction and matter just to name a few.
Our students loves to explore, experiment and discover.
Learning science through art projects builds on the natural curiosity of each child and combines the beauty of art and the fascination of science. Furthermore, science arts is a wonderful way to expose my students to science in an open, creative way. This process will make science fun and memorable.
