Help me give my students some extra sparkle to their works of art! These supplies, including the water color pencils, glitter pens and origami paper, will allow the students to take their art projects to the next level!
Our school community is comprised of students from diverse cultural backgrounds, but one thing they have in common is their enthusiasm for learning! Building our classroom community is just as important as the academic skills we are learning, and we do that through high-interest activities and lessons. My students love playing games, reading books, and creating their own works of art!
Our students thrive on hands-on experiences and learning that allows them to work collaboratively with their peers.
They love project-based learning, and we are working on how to persevere when tasks are challenging. I love seeing the pride and joy on their faces when they present work they've created or worked through a tough problem.
My Project
Our class has been studying a variety of art techniques since the start of the school year. Students have worked with basic watercolors, crayons, and colored pencils as they learned about texture, space, shape, color, line, form, and shade.
The supplies in this project will enhance the knowledge of these elements of art by allowing students to move to a new level of each technique.
One of our projects is for the students to learn about printmaking. They will be carving a design into a foam board and then using the hard rollers from this project to apply acrylic paint without getting it into the negative space of the carved design.
Another big project that we are going to do is to learn how to draw animals like scientists. The students will use cooperative peer feedback to improve upon drafts of their designs. Then they will use watercolor pencils to color in their designs. The watercolor pencils are an amazing tool for learning realistic blending of colors, and they will help students focus on detailed and purposeful design work.
The origami paper will be used during our geometry unit to show how math and art can interconnect. The glitter pens are to enhance several projects we will do throughout the year, including array cities designed on black paper to look like a city outline at night.
I know that students grow in confidence when they create masterpieces that they feel are beyond their capabilities. Sometimes it takes having really unique supplies to show them that they are talented artists!
