Do you remember that special art project that you still save and show off to your children because it was just so special and brings back memories from your childhood? My children want to create their own memories, but it has been very hard to create those works of art without a few needed items.
My children come from a middle class area.
Our school is well established, which to us means that we are the last school to get any new updates. Requesting technology is difficult, but the demand and necessity for combining technology and regular classwork increases daily. We also do not have many art supplies and most comes from our own pockets as teachers. The students love art and the more types of media I incorporate with their art, the more excited the students become. My students love looking toward the future, specifically looking for opportunities to utilize what they like to do. It's so exciting to see them express their thoughts, ideas, and dreams through their art!
My Project
With new, progressive types of art now becoming popular, I like to give the students a broad view of art and a way to discover their passion by trying as many different types of media as possible. I would like to try a project that combines technology with the art concepts we are learning in class. Our school cameras are often temperamental and do not work for long periods of time. A camera specifically for my class would help with the limited technology we have in our school. With limited space in my room, it is difficult to create quality works of art without a place to dry our projects. An art rack that can hold all their projects in a limited space will help remedy that problem.
My children remember those projects that are new and exciting.
Trying different types of media engages the children. Once the children have created their masterpiece, both the children and I want to keep their work in tact to enjoy for years to come. By receiving a camera and a drying rack, many of our art problems will be solved with these two simple items.
