This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being the school counselor of this amazing elementary school allows me the genuine opportunity to experience the thoughts, emotions, and dreams of today's youth. The depth of our conversations and their personal challenges are mind-blowing. They motivate me to enrich their lives with everything I have but can't always afford.

Though our students walk through the lowest socio-economic neighborhood in Antioch, they arise every day to envision their futures and become a change agent for their families.

Help me reward students who exemplify responsibility, respect, and are ready to learn.

My Project

Our after school art club fosters a creative environment for students to learn new art techniques and use various mediums. Each week we host two sessions of Art Club to meet the needs of our elementary students. New art materials like paint sets, markers, and paint brushes will help ensure that all students have equitable access to quality art materials. Art Club provides our students another avenue to express themselves and share their creativity. Our teachers have shared that the techniques acquired from after school Art Club are being incorporated back into the classroom through creative classroom projects.
