Do you remember how much you loved to create art as a child? Whether it is through painting or drawing, art complements and enables student learning.
My students are middle school students with special needs.
They focus on functional academic skills in a self-contained classroom as well as attending elective classes, Some of my students have disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy or Angelman Syndrome and as such need extra support when presented with a motor task.
My Project
My students need the addition of extra sensory activities to make their days more successful. They are also very motivated by the process of creating and presenting their own works of art. Adaptive art supplies will enable my students to strengthen their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as a free time activity or blended into an academic assignment.
I have requested adaptive grip pencils, large grip colored pencils, pencil grips, and adaptive hold paint brushes for my students.I would love for each and every one of my students to benefit from art within the classroom.
At this point, they need additional adaptive art supplies to successfully participate in art activities.
