The students (3rd through 5th graders) that this project would benefit attend a high poverty school in Bremerton, Washington. This school is in its second year as an integrated arts school and its first year with the Disney Musicals in Schools program. The cast is made up of a range of students, including ELL students, special education students, foster students, students from single-parent households, and students from dual parent households. These students stay after school twice a week to practice for the musical. They are dedicated performers and very motivated to succeed in this production. Participation in musical theater increases a student's literacy, language skills, and confidence!
The funding of this project allows the school to build our musical theater program.
The experience so far has been amazing and we would like to continue this opportunity for years to come. Our performance will be April 10, 2019. Thank you in advance for being a patron of the arts and a supporter of public education!
My Project
Our students are working hard memorizing lines and songs! Now they need to make their production of Lion King come alive by creating sets and costumes! Help put the art supplies needed into their hands and the hands of the many volunteers waiting to help! Paint, felt, glue, paintbrushes....everything is needed to allow for creative set design and costume making.
Help students increase their literacy skills while incorporating drama into the school environment.
Art supplies are needed to enhance the school's first Disney in Schools performance of Lion King. The "actors" are so excited to perform for friends, family and the community. Now is the time to help them get creative!
