This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are bright, inquisitive, and excited to learn about art. I teach in an urban Title I school. My students range from grades Pre-K to 8 and they are the best kids, but the school operates on a tight budget and has little to no funding for art. It’s important to me that they have all the resources they need for class.
As their teacher and mentor, nothing would please me more than to just hand students the art supplies they need.
My Project
To help create an exciting learning space for Pre-K to 5th grade, I am requesting paper, paint and colored pencils. The paper and paint will help them create artwork and buying in larges sizes and cutting them down will save on cost. Due to a lack of resources, the school does not have the budget to allow me to purchase supplies, but the students love art.
In addition to providing students with basic art supplies, I want to create an exciting classroom environment that mirrors the learning that goes on inside it.
The art supplies will be used though the school year for creating new artwork.
