Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach second grade at a title one school. The students in my class live in a neighborhood where gang violence and poverty are the norm. As they walk home from school (and sometimes through school) the most artistic thing they see is graffiti. I would like to make my classroom a safe haven where students are able to express themselves and use their artistic energy to create a bright, beautiful environment for learning. I want to teach an understanding of their own culture and that of others through art. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds, I am in great need of some basic art supplies. I only have five scissors for the entire class to share, one package of white construction paper and one package of blue construction paper. I purchased crayons, writing paper, pencils and such for my students, but I am still paying my college bills and need some support. If you could please help me by donating some art supplies, I will show you how joyful my students can make the classroom feel. Please give my students this opportunity. Thank you so much!
