My students need construction paper because in my classroom we do hands-on projects that require art materials to complete. We also need more flexible seating options!
I teach an amazing group of 33 sixth graders, the majority of which come from low income households in Metro Detroit. Although, my students face many challenges they come into class each morning excited and ready to learn.
My students love using both the technology available to us and their own creativity to dream, invent, and make projects across all areas of our curriculum.
They may not have many resources outside of school to foster their creativity, so while they are with me, my goal is to provide them an environment in which to take risks, dream big, and share their ideas!
My Project
My students love our current flexible seating options, but we are limited with what choices we have. Many of my students would benefit from having the choice of stools instead of chairs. Having the freedom to wiggle, will help them focus on their academics.
My students also love hands on learning where they allow their creativity to take the lead in their learning!
Having art supplies on hand in my classroom will allow my students to express themselves and their learning in more creative ways in all content areas. We will now have the supplies to complete fun and engaging projects!
