Art Supplies for Needy Kids

Help me give my students who are home without internet access or devices some art supplies. These art cases can be left at the doors of the students in our community whom are also receiving free food.

My Students

My students are fun, funny, interesting, and very, very curious. I have a wonderful mix of kids, running the gamut of diversity. I have 2 autistic students, many English Language Learners, some GATE students, and a homeless student. Despite their wide range of skills, needs, and backgrounds, there are many commonalities. Our favorite time is Friday morning. We put away our math and reading and have STEM time. We code robots, visit virtual worlds with our Oculus Quest, we build, we battle, we make.

My Project

As the doors closed to our school two weeks ago, students left with work packets and devices if needed, in anticipation of a long school closure.

The needy families in our community are receiving food and packets with school work.

Many do not have internet access and are quite isolated from the outside world.

I am in contact with many of my students daily, and they are continuing with school work and socializing online, while watching movies and "chatting" virtually with each other.

I am saddened when I envision the daily struggle of other families from my classroom. I particularly imagine one of my students in an unfortunate situation, where she and her two younger sisters are living in a very small home with their grandmother, who speaks no English. I imagine being able to deliver some art supplies for the girls to enjoy during these long, homebound days. I would love to make this happen for those girls and other students of mine in similar situations.
