On average, over 170 students enter my classroom to engage in the arts each day! They are intelligent, funny, productive, and consistently excited to create new projects in the art room. They are a diverse bunch that enjoy the time and space provided for self-expression and artistic exploration. As a new teacher to the school, I have tried to create the most inviting and comfortable work space possible with very little supplies or art room necessities and a bare classroom.
All of my students love art, unfortunately my school has very little money for the visual arts and I cannot personally afford to supply them with everything they deserve.
Majority of my students come from low income house holds where nearly all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Because of the hardships many of these students and their families face, our school does everything in their power to provide the students with what they need. These supplies will help their learning experience through increased creative possibilities that they so desperately deserve. My students would really appreciate your help!
My Project
Like many art programs, the art room runs on a low budget, leaving students with very limited consumable supplies and materials in the classroom. This year, we started without many of the basics, such as paint brushes or paper. However, with the very little the students had to work with, they've already created masterpieces and have impressed the entire school. We are in need of basic drawing paper, paint, an assortment of Sharpies to create faux stained "glass windows", and water color paints, just to name a few materials that will be used by students to create and explore in their art room!
We need a variety of basic materials for the classroom, which will allow the students' artistic and creative abilities to shine!
This project will help provide the entire art program with essential materials needed to explore various art mediums, ideas, and school wide projects.
